Weight loss surgery is a fantastic option for those suffering with obesity. If you’ve exhausted all forms of exercise and dieting regimes but still have a BMI over 35, weight loss surgery could be a fantastic option for you to finally start losing weight and achieve your dream body.
We offer three kinds of weight loss surgery – once you’ve used our BMI calculator, read on to find out which option could be best for you.
Gastric Band
Designed to help you lose weight gradually, gastric band surgery involves placing a silicone ring close to the tip of your stomach. This stimulates the nerve endings and helps to make you feel more satisfied by smaller portions of food.
Our gastric band patients begin with a BMI ranging from 35-55. If your BMI is on the lower end of this scale, a band will likely be your best option. Once the band is fitted, you’ll need to get adjustments every so often to make sure it’s still right for you and your body. As you begin to lose weight with the band, you’ll discover your new lifestyle comes with a lot of energy!
Gastric Sleeve
Gastric sleeve surgery is recommended for male patients with a BMI of 35-50, and female patients with a BMI of 35-55. The surgery involves removing part of your stomach to reduce its capacity by 90%. Included in the removal is the part of your stomach that produces the hormone affecting your appetite. This means that your appetite and the amount of food you can eat will be reduced.
Once you begin to lose weight on your brand new diet and exercise regime, you’ll notice a huge difference in not only how you look, but how you feel!
Gastric Bypass
By reducing the size of your stomach, gastric bypass surgery restricts how much you can eat so that you can lose weight gradually and safely.
Our gastric bypass patients have an initial BMI ranging from 35-55. In a gastric bypass operation, your digestive system is rebuilt to change how your stomach and intestines manage your food intake. A smaller pouch is created in the top part of your stomach, which leaves a larger pouch in the lower part of your stomach that will no longer be used. The smaller pouch is connected to your small intestine by a small tunnel created by your surgeon – 'bypassing' the rest of the stomach. The food you eat after a gastric bypass also misses out the first section of your small intestine.
If you have a BMI between 33-34.4 and have health concerns caused by obesity, you might also qualify for weight-loss surgery. Get in touch with us today to find out what options are available to you.
NON-SURGICAL WEIGHT LOSS TREATMENT
If your BMI is 30-34, it’s likely that you won’t be suitable for weight loss surgery. However, we offer non-surgical weight loss techniques that can help you to reach your goal weight.
Our self-administered weight loss programme can help you lose weight by suppressing your appetite and helping you to feel fuller more quickly. In turn, it can help to address health concerns such as high blood pressure and high cholesterol.
This treatment might also be suitable if you have a BMI of at least 27 and suffer from a weight-related health condition such as type-2 diabetes.
While you’ll administer this weight loss treatment at home, we’ll be there to support you each step of the way.
Liposuction
If you have a BMI of under 30 and you’re satisfied with your weight but would like to tone up small areas of fat, liposuction might be the right treatment for you. It’s a procedure designed to tone up small areas of fatty tissue that aren’t responding to exercise or weight loss.
We offer liposuction and vaser liposuction. Traditional liposuction involves the suction of fatty tissues and excess fluid through a cannula. Vaser liposuction is similar, but it uses ‘vibration amplification of sound energy on resonance’ to break down the stubborn, unwanted fat before draining. Liposuction will help you tone up those stubborn areas of fat that just won’t budge!
