What is Dermaroller?

A facial treatment which uses a micro-needling device to stimulate the deepest layers of the skin, Dermaroller resurfaces and smooths the skin. It’s very effective in the repair of damaged skin through regenerating the body’s own production of elastin and collagen.

Your medical aesthetic practitioner will talk you through any risks and complications, although possible side effects are usually minimal. They include slight bleeding during the treatment as the skin is being penetrated, redness, and increased sensitivity.

Is it right for me?

Dermaroller treatment is suitable for most skin types and ages. It will help to completely resurface your skin and is ideal for a skin-tightening boost, or for deeper skin issues which aren’t able to be enhanced by skincare products on their own.

However, should you have active acne, you should be aware that this treatment cannot be carried out as it may spread bacteria from your blemishes to other parts of your face. Dermaroller is also unsuitable for people with eczema or psoriasis.

Dermaroller FAQs

More FAQs
How does it work?
The principle of skin needling takes advantage of the body’s natural response to damage or injury, which is to repair itself by regenerating the collagen and elastin fibres. The Dermaroller triggers the self-repair mechanism through hundreds of tiny pin pricks to boost collagen growth.
Are there any side effects?
Following your treatment, your skin may appear red or flushed, which will fade within a few hours. The Dermaroller may leave a few small marks at the most and may leave none, as the needles are extremely fine.
How many treatments do I need?
It is possible to have one Dermaroller treatment with noticeable results, however results can vary from person to person. For optimum results, we recommend a course of 3 sessions, 6 weeks apart.
Is the Dermaroller safe?
Skin needling requires no injections. It is minimally invasive, side effects are unlikely, and the instrument used is 100% sterile.
Can I combine Dermaroller with other treatments?
Yes, Dermaroller works well in combination with other aesthetic treatments such as fillers or anti-wrinkle treatment. Your practitioner can recommend the best combination of treatments for your skin type and personal requirements.

Next steps

Your journey step by step

Your consultation

Your journey with The Hospital Group begins with a consultation with our friendly medical aesthetic practitioners, this may be an Aesthetician, Nurse Practitioner or Doctor. During this conversation you can talk through why you’re interested in this treatment, how much it costs, whether you’re suitable for treatment, if you’ll need a one off treatment, or a full course, as well as potential treatment dates.

You can ask our medical aesthetic practitioners any questions as they are extremely knowledgeable and have undertaken extensive training. If you feel ready to proceed, we can carry out a laser patch test (where applicable) and book your first treatment for a date and time that suits you.

The treatment

You can ask your medical aesthetic practitioner any final questions on the day of the treatment. All pre- and post-treatment advice will be discussed prior to the day itself, so you will know exactly what to expect during your treatment, including how long it will take, and how it will feel.

For most medical aesthetic treatments, you will be able to leave the clinic as soon as your treatment has been completed, and you should be able to go about your normal day-to-day activities. If you experience any mild discomfort, redness or swelling, this will subside within the following days. Any specific aftercare requirements will be discussed at your consultation.

We are here to support you throughout your medical aesthetics journey, we believe that the highest quality aftercare is just as important as the treatment itself. If you have any questions or concerns at all, you can contact us at any time.
