Anti-wrinkle injections are the most popular non-surgical treatment we offer. It’s a simple, non-invasive treatment that can smooth lines for both men and women. Anti-wrinkle injections reduce the activity of the muscles that cause lines to form by temporarily reducing the contractions of those muscles to create a smoothed, rejuvenated appearance.

What are the benefits of anti-wrinkle injections?

Anti-wrinkle injections relax the muscles in your face, which helps your skin to appear fresher and younger. They are a temporary measure which can reduce the effects of ageing by smoothing out fine lines and wrinkles. Crow’s feet and frown lines can be diminished to reveal a more youthful, plumper look.

After your anti-wrinkle treatment, it will take between 5 to 14 days for you to see the results, and these will last up to 16 weeks. This is a fast and effective procedure – only around 30 minutes - which is carried out by expert medical aesthetic practitioners. And there is minimal downtime afterwards, so you should be able to go about your day to day activities immediately afterwards.

Are there any risks?

It is important to weigh up the risks involved against the benefits that the treatment can bring – just as with all types of medical aesthetic treatment.

Your medical aesthetic practitioner will talk you through any risks and complications, although possible side effects are usually minimal. They include mild bruising around the site of the injection, you may have a headache which will usually subside within 24 of treatment, and an allergic reaction, although rare, is possible.

Is it right for me?

Anti-wrinkle injections could be right for you if you have concerns regarding signs of ageing. If you would like to reduce the appearance of frown lines on  your forehead, or if you have wrinkles around your eyes that you’d like to diminish, anti-wrinkle injections could be the solution. They can help achieve a younger look which boosts your self-confidence.

FAQ

Anti-wrinkle Treatment FAQs

More FAQs
What is used in our anti-wrinkle treatments?
Our anti-wrinkle treatments use a natural purified protein produced by the Clostridium Botulinum Bacterium, which reduces the activity of the muscles that cause lines to form over time. When injected into a muscle, it temporarily blocks the chemical signals that make the muscle contract. Only minute quantities are injected and only the injected muscle is affected. It works by temporarily reducing the contractions of the muscles that cause permanent lines, to create a smoother appearance.
What areas does it work on?
Anti-wrinkle injections are used to treat facial lines caused primarily by facial muscles. These are often the creases that occur between the eyebrows, crow’s feet wrinkles and forehead lines. The appearance of these lines can be dramatically softened with the use of anti-wrinkle treatments. They can also be used in the treatment of excessive sweating, where it is injected into the underarm to stop problem perspiration.
How long does the treatment take?
Anti-wrinkle injections take just a few minutes. You’ll see an improvement in the appearance of your skin within days and the results can last up to 3-5 months. In your consultation, your aesthetician will assess your muscle movement by asking you to frown or smile. This will determine the precise injection site to achieve the best results for you. The anti-wrinkle treatment is then administered by several tiny injections. No anaesthetic is required and you can return to work or normal activities immediately.
Are anti-wrinkle injections safe?
Anti-wrinkle injections have an excellent safety record and have been actively used for over ten years in tens of thousands of patients worldwide. It has US FDA and European approval (including France and Switzerland). It is also now called VISTABEL.
When will I see results?
Usually on day two, although it will take up to 14 days for the full results to be visible.
How long does it last?
Anti-wrinkle injections last for approximately 3-6 months.

Your journey step by step

Consultation

Your journey with The Hospital Group begins with a consultation with our friendly medical aesthetic practitioners, this may be an Aesthetician, Nurse Practitioner or Doctor. During this conversation you can talk through why you’re interested in this treatment, how much it costs, if there are finance options available to you, whether you’re suitable for treatment, if you’ll need a one off treatment, or a full course, as well as potential treatment dates.

You can ask our medical aesthetic practitioners any questions as they are extremely knowledgeable and have undertaken extensive training. If you feel ready to proceed, we can carry out a laser patch test (where applicable) and book your first treatment for a date and time that suits you.

The treatment

You can ask your medical aesthetic practitioner any final questions on the day of the treatment. All pre- and post-treatment advice will be discussed prior to the day itself, so you will know exactly what to expect during your treatment, including how long it will take, and how it will feel.

Recovery

For most Medical Aesthetic treatments, you will be able to leave the clinic as soon as your treatment has been completed, and you should be able to go about your normal day-to-day activities. If you experience any mild discomfort, redness or swelling, this will subside within the following days. Any specific aftercare requirements will be discussed at your consultation.

Aftercare

We are here to support you throughout your medical aesthetics journey, we believe that the highest quality aftercare is just as important as the treatment itself. If you have any questions or concerns at all, you can contact us at any time.
