What are dermal fillers?

If you are looking to smooth fine lines and wrinkles, plump your skin, or augment your lips, then dermal filler injections for men could be the choice for you. There are a variety of high quality, hyaluronic-based dermal fillers available, and achieve the look you want through creating a bespoke treatment package

Dermal fillers could help to restore a more youthful look if you have noticed that your lines and wrinkles are quite deep, or sunken cheeks are making your face look tired. They can be used to give you a more contoured effect by creating the illusion of a stronger bone structure. Fillers under the skin can also fill out and define lips, and give a more youthful appearance overall

Dermal fillers will slowly break down through your body’s own natural processes, but can last from 6 months up to 2 years.

What are the benefits of dermal fillers?

With dermal fillers, you can enjoy instant results. The treatment gives you definition and contouring by lifting and projecting your cheeks, reshaping your chin, and redefining your jawline. Fine lines and wrinkles can also be smoothed out.

Treatment only takes between 30 and 45 minutes and has minimal downtime or side effects, so you can easily fit it into your busy schedule.

Are there any risks?

It is important to weigh up the risks involved against the benefits that the treatment can bring – just as with all types of medical aesthetic treatment.

Your medical aesthetic practitioner will talk you through any risks and complications, although possible side effects are usually minimal. They can include minor unplanned swelling, redness and bruising around the injection site.

Is it right for me?

If would like to bring out a more youthful appearance in your face, dermal fillers may be the treatment you are looking for. You might feel like, over time, you have lost the elasticity, spring and firmness in your skin, and you might also be looking to contour your jaw, cheeks or chin, or to plump your lips.

You can talk through how to create the look you want with your medical aesthetic practitioner at your free consultation. They will determine whether you are a suitable candidate for this treatment by discussing details of your medical history. They will also talk you through the results you can realistically expect.

FAQ

Dermal Fillers FAQs

More FAQs
How much do dermal fillers cost?
The cost of your dermal fillers will depend on how much filler is being used during the treatment and the area/s being treated. This can be discussed with your medical aesthetic practitioner at your free consultation.
How long do dermal fillers last?
Dermal fillers can last between 6 months to 2 years.
Do dermal fillers hurt?
Dermal fillers can feel slightly uncomfortable during the treatment, and there may be some swelling/bruising in the area afterwards, but this should subside within 48 hours. Over the counter painkillers can be taken to reduce any discomfort.
Are there any after effects or side effects?
Side effects of dermal fillers are minimal, but may include swelling, bruising and redness, which should subside within a couple of days.
How long does it take?
The treatment generally takes around 30 to 45 minutes, and you can usually get back to everyday life straight away.
What causes deep lines and wrinkles, hollows and sunken cheeks?
Over time, your skin slowly loses the collagen that helps to shape and support it. Sun exposure, smoking, air pollution and everyday stresses can speed up the ageing process, causing lines, wrinkles and sagging to develop more quickly. Dermal fillers replace the collagen that's been lost to help you look fresher again.
Who will perform the dermal filler treatment?
At Transform, dermal filler treatments are only ever administered by our fully qualified, highly trained practitioners and nurses.
Is there any aftercare required?
Other than a follow up appointment one to two weeks later, there's no aftercare required. Any temporary discomfort you may feel after the procedure can be treated with painkillers.

Next steps

Your journey step by step

Your consultation

Your journey with The Hospital Group begins with a consultation with our friendly medical aesthetic practitioners, this may be an Aesthetician, Nurse Practitioner or Doctor. During this conversation you can talk through why you’re interested in this treatment, how much it costs, if there are finance options available to you, whether you’re suitable for treatment, if you’ll need a one off treatment, or a full course, as well as potential treatment dates.

You can ask our medical aesthetic practitioners any questions as they are extremely knowledgeable and have undertaken extensive training. If you feel ready to proceed, we can carry out a laser patch test (where applicable) and book your first treatment for a date and time that suits you.

The treatment

You can ask your medical aesthetic practitioner any final questions on the day of the treatment. All pre- and post-treatment advice will be discussed prior to the day itself, so you will know exactly what to expect during your treatment, including how long it will take, and how it will feel.

Recovery

For most medical aesthetic treatments, you will be able to leave the clinic as soon as your treatment has been completed, and you should be able to go about your normal day-to-day activities. If you experience any mild discomfort, redness or swelling, this will subside within the following days. Any specific aftercare requirements will be discussed at your consultation.

Aftercare

We are here to support you throughout your medical aesthetics journey, we believe that the highest quality aftercare is just as important as the treatment itself. If you have any questions or concerns at all, you can contact us at any time.
