So get to know us with our handy A-Z of commonly used terminology…

A is for…

Abdominoplasty – or a ‘tummy tuck’ is designed to remove surplus skin and fat deposits to help tighten the stomach area.

Aftercare – perhaps the most important ‘A!’ all of our cosmetic surgery procedures come with 3 years of aftercare as standard which can be extended to 6 years for your complete peace of mind.

Augmentation mammaplasty – otherwise known as a ‘boob job’ or breast enlargement, involves changing the aesthetic appearance of the breasts by increasing their size using implants.

B is for…

BandBoozled – is a partner of The Hospital Group. It is an online slimming club that is just for gastric band patients full of advice, support and guidance to help and motivate those on their weight loss journey following a lap band.

Bariatric surgery – is the traditional term for weight loss surgery. Here at The Hospital Group, we offer gastric band, bypass and sleeve.

Blepharoplasty – or ‘eyebag surgery’ move the excess skin beneath the eyes for a rejuvenated look that can open up the eyes and reduce the signs of ageing.

Body contouring – covers a range of procedures designed to remove excess skin and to lift and reshape the body. We can offer a bespoke body contouring package that may combine procedures such as a tummy tuck, arm lift, thigh lift, buttock lift and breast uplift.

Breast augmentation – or a breast enlargement adds volume to the breasts, making them larger by inserting breast implants.

C is for…

Consultation – this is the first stage in your cosmetic surgery or weight loss journey and involves meeting with a surgeon and patient advisor to discuss the procedure you are interested in further. We offer consultations free of charge to give you an opportunity to ask questions, find out more so you can make a knowledgeable and informed decision.

Conversion surgery – involves swapping a gastric band for a gastric bypass or sleeve gastrectomy. The gastric band is removed completely, and the bypass or gastrectomy is then completed immediately afterwards.

D is for…

Deviated septum – is when your nasal septum appears crooked and can cause breathing difficulties. A deviated septum can be straightened with a septoplasty corrective procedure.

Gynecomastia – otherwise known as male chest reduction is designed to achieve fat removal and gland removal in the chest area. It involves liposuction to remove excess fat and the removal of excess skin to create a smoother, more toned chest profile.

Hoodectonomy -often called labia reduction or labiaplasty, is a procedure that can correct and define the appearance of the inner labia.

O is for…

Otoplasty – or ear correction surgery can help by removing or reshaping the cartilage to ‘pin back’ the ears or change their shape or size to suit your facial proportions.

Over the muscle – refers to placing the breast implant in front of your breast muscle, which means it’s more superficial and sits just below the breast tissue. This might be the best option for you if you have some breast tissue already or if you’re restoring fullness to deflated breasts.
