MYTH
Weight loss surgery is a quick fix.
FACT
Whether you have a gastric band, bypass or sleeve, you should be prepared to change your habits and lifestyle afterwards.
You will work with your band, bypass or sleeve by following a balanced diet and incorporating exercise into your routine to achieve your weight loss goals.
When will I start to see results?
With a gastric band, you can expect to lose 1 to 2lbs per week, provided that you’re following your post-op diet and exercise.
With a gastric bypass or gastric sleeve, you can expect to lose up to 3lb per week in the first few months following surgery. By 6 months, this will slow to 1-2lb per week.
MYTH
After weight loss surgery I won’t be able to eat normally or enjoy food.
FACT
Although you’ll have to follow a restricted pre-op and post-op diet with weight loss surgery, after 6 weeks you can go back to eating healthy, balanced diet with lots of texture.
Our experienced dietitians and nutritionists will help you with your diet plan before and after your procedure.
WHAT DOES THE POST-OP DIET INCLUDE?
For the first 2 weeks following your surgery, you’ll follow a liquid-only diet.
