Response to Breast & Cosmetic Implant Registry Reports – The Hospital Group
We are aware of recent reports in the media relating to the submission of patient data to the Breast and Cosmetic Implant Registry which came into existence on the 10th October 2016.
The registry is a record of patients who have undergone breast surgery and have had an implant fitted, and is a log of the specific details of the breast implant that they had fitted during their procedure. You can find out more about the registry on the NHS Digital website.
The Hospital Group is a prominent supporter of the Breast and Cosmetic Implant Registry. We believe that it is vital that those who have had a breast implant fitted can have the peace of mind that their implant details are recorded and stored safely.
For this reason, all patients of The Hospital Group sign a consent form prior to surgery that allows us to store their implant details and submit them to the register; and all patient’s records, who have consented, are then sent by The Hospital Group to the registry, which is administered by the NHS.
If you have had breast surgery with The Hospital Group, you can, therefore, be assured that your details will be logged and stored securely with the registry if you have consented to this.
